Joya: Talk to us about your idea to start this company. What spurred it?
Alpa: I wanted to help my father renovate his economy hotel and couldn’t find an affordable designer. I researched and learned that over 50% of hotels in the US are economy hotels and motels. Short term rental companies such as Airbnb were starting to really impact this market negatively and I wanted to provide a solution to this problem. I became obsessed and passionate about solving the problem.
Joya: What problem are you solving with Spaceez?
Alpa: Making hospitality and commercial interior design affordable and accessible to small businesses.
Joya: Talk to us about the support systems you have in place. I understand your family wasn’t supportive of your ambitions. What advice would you give to other women in this spot?
Alpa: I would say my biggest support system has been myself and the community of other fellow female founders and entrepreneurs I’ve surrounded myself with. The one piece of advice I would give is to believe in yourself. I think the biggest walls we have to climb is are the ones in our mind.
Joya: What is the one thing you need right now?
Alpa: I’m preparing to raise funding for my startup so advice, guidance, mentorship from other fellow female entrepreneurs in this amazing community as well as introductions to potential investors.
