This week was hitting the reset button after a month in Paris.
The common question was: How was it? Both as an American and as a New Yorker, I’ve only ever known one way to be: Live to work. For years, I’ve been craving a culture that works to live. A month working in Paris with clients afforded me that. I’ve come back different. I can feel it. I don’t want to work constantly, as I did before I left. I’m saying ‘yes’ to more joyful things. And you know the surprise result of being more in ‘joy’? The business, the wealth, the abundance comes more quickly.
There is another way.
What I did this week
- This week was about hitting “reset” on self-care. Haircolor with Marlene Melby at Salon Manzanilla. Haircut with Steven DeCarlo at Whiteroom Brooklyn. Eyebrow threading with Shashi at Shobha Soho. Manicure at Spazio Nails in Soho. Facial with Nikima Frenche at Ageless Skin and Body. Yoga at Modo Yoga. Weight lifting at Liftonic.
- Sunday dinner with friends at Brasserie Fouquet, where Paris-meets-New-York in Tribeca.
- Alana wanted to pick my brain on how I plan retreats in other countries for C-level women. I explained my key steps here.
- I judged a graduate school class on their executive presence in giving their final presentations. The three things I was looking for.
- The new cohort of my monthly roundtable for C level women SheSuite kicked off. Members asked me about my system for building a sphere of influence. I wrote this blog post here in response.
- My business coach invited me to do our weekly session in Bryant Park, given my love of adventure. Broadway in Bryant Park offers small vignettes from different productions. The guy singing “Sweet Caroline” from Neil Diamond was surprisingly good.
- Caught a magical performance of the Ballet Hispanico at the Met exploring the works of Afro-hispanic painter Juan Pareja. He was a former slave. This is this first time he got to present his works in his own right and tell his own story. The ballet complemented the themes explored in his works. My friend Kelly shielded us from the rain as we walked to Le Bilboquet for drinks with this Blunt umbrella. I’m totally obsessed.
